Events in Casper, Wyoming
Located in almost the geographical center of
Wyoming is the state's second largest city, Casper, Wyoming. As
the shopping, entertainment and media Mecca, this city boasts the
only international airport in the state and the main stop for many
well-known groups and events. Many hotels, restaurants and activities
await the visitor to this fun - filled town. It is a town rich in
western history and possesses a prosperous future. Although the
oil boom has lessened, coal bed methane finds have ensured this
town has a very strong future.
Being centrally located has enabled Casper to
play host to a wide variety of events, both annual and one night
entertainment features. The almost 10,000 seat state of the art
Casper Events Center has enabled the city, and the state, to attract
some very well known events and entertainers. Each month both visitors
and locals alike can enjoy such diverse events as the College National
Finals Rodeo, the Cowboy Poetry gathering, the Cowboy State Summer
Games and the state high school volleyball tournament.
A month by month example of events can show the
visitor just how many choices are available to enjoy. January hosts
the Oil City Basketball Classic, February the Cowboy State Winter
Games, March the state high school swimming championships and in
April the Ft. Caspar Rendezvous offers the visitor a chance to see
living history exhibits and learn about the wild west as it really
was. An event in June brings many college students and supporters
to the city for the College National Finals Rodeo held indoors at
the Casper Events Center. The Beartrap Summer Festival, a musical
gathering of blues, bluegrass and the Wyoming Symphony fans, is
held in July. Throughout the summer months, the boys of summer,
Casper-style, play in town. A new farm team of the Denver Rockies,
the Casper Rockies, play for the baseball-starved Wyoming baseball
fans. Fall has it's own share of events including the Platte River
Fall Festival and Brewfest in September as well as the huge Wyoming
Hunting and Fishing Heritage Exposition, an annual pilgrimage for
the hunting-obsessed Wyomingites! October hosts both the Sheridan
High School Marching Band and the volleyball championships. In November
a P.R.C.A indoor rodeo comes to town as well as the Wyoming Ski
and Winter Show. December is the month for the annual Wyoming Cowboy
Shootout Basketball Classic where national collegiate teams come
to town.
For a relatively small western city, Casper has
a lot to offer and, as the city grows and matures, many more events
and entertainment opportunities will be available for the enjoyment
of residents and visitors alike.
