Tate Geological Museum
Casper, Wyoming
The Tate Geological Museum is a privately
funded institution associated with Casper College in Casper, Wyoming.
This museum offers wonderful programs and exhibits to students of
all ages including dinosaurs, fossils, volcanoes, rocks and more.
If field trips and fossils are your thing then don't miss the Cottonwood
Creek Dinosaur Trail at Alcova, Wyoming. Keep an eye out for vertebrate
fossils, such as dinosaurs and marine reptiles but remember not to
take any with you so others can enjoy them too. Besides, it is illegal
to remove any fossils from public lands without a permit.
The Tate Geological Museum also offers
incredible teaching tools to the local schools. One of the most
popular programs is the Museum Teaching Trunks. The trunks contain
resource materials, specimens, replicas, videos, books and a teachers
guide and cover subjects like dinosaurs, fossils and much more.
This exciting educational program is funded in part by the Board
of Cooperative Educational Services and Classroom Wyoming. The museum
is open Monday - Friday 9a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
and is closed on Sundays and Major Public Holidays.
