Cody - Wyoming's Happy Trails
There are nearly as many horses in Cody, Wyoming
as there are people; and area guest ranches enjoy showing off their
beautiful contryside from horseback. Mountain bike rentals, repairs,
maps and guides make cycle touring safe and enjoyable. For climbers,
Cody offers excellent bouldering and sport routes.
Specialized groups offer eco-tours for birdwatching,
Native American rock art viewing, dinosaur digging, wild horse spotting,
wildlife photographing and Oregon Trail exploring. Self-guided walking
tours through downtown Cody feature numerous sites listed in the
National Register of Historic Places.
When you need to get off your feet, take a wake-up
river float through Shoshone River Canyon or enjoy a romantic horse-drawn
carriage ride through Cody's historic downtown.
Cody's Relaxed Lifestyle
Cody's folks are happy
and well-prepared to extend their western hospitality to the thousands
of tourists who hope to experience a rapidly vanishing lifestyle
and come to connect with America's frontier past.
When things quiet down
some, the locals can still enjoy the Buffalo Bill Dam Visitor Center's
beautiful views of Shoshone Canyon at the east end of Buffalo Bill
Reservoir. Cody's 18-hole PGA Championship golf course, Olive Glenn,
is open for sunup to sundown swingers. The Victor J. Riley Arena
features a full-service ice arena for hockey, figure, and recreational
ice skating, plus activities and exhibitions at the Community Events
Center. At City Park, the community and visitors gathers every Friday
evening at the bandshell for free Concerts in the Park.
