Sheridan County Fair
Sheridan, Wyoming
Visitors by the thousand escape to northern
Wyoming's spectacular Bighorn Mountains every summer, seeking a
quiet refuge from the rigors of 21st century life. But for one nostalgic
week in early August, a lucky few of those guests can travel back
in time to a simpler era at the Sheridan County Fair.
Older than any other such festival in Wyoming, the Sheridan County
Fair takes visitors back to the days of friendly competitions over
sheep dogs and workhorses, of annual gatherings before the harvest
and the slaughter. Young people come from all over the County to
show off their livestock skills in 4-H and FFA exhibits, while other
local folks show off their craft, cooking and canning abilities
in the Exhibit Hall. Nowhere else in Wyoming can you find more fun
at such a reasonable cost. Admission to the Sheridan County Fair
is always free.
The Sheridan County Fair Board goes to great
lengths to make sure everyone has a great time. Whether you enjoy
magic shows, petting zoos, or the Kalif Klowns in their red fire
engine, or perhaps having a cold beer under the grandstands, there's
a little something for everyone.
Area families come in droves to compare their
draft horses and pies, their needlework and jellies. Old timers
still meet under the shady trees by the Pavilion to catch up on
the local news.
