King's Saddlery and King Ropes
Sheridan, Wyoming
 Cowboy
gear fit for a Queen! King's Saddlery has been operating
out of its present location in Sheridan, Wyoming since 1973 and
is well known for it's fine quality saddles, ropes and leather products.
In October 1984, King's Saddlery hosted their most famous customer
to date, the Queen of England. Queen Elizabeth II was in town visiting
relatives and insisted on a stop at King's Saddlery before going
home. She spent a considerable amount of
time perusing the saddles, ropes and leather goods. She was very
gracious and insisted that everyone set protocol aside saying it
was not necessary to bow or curtsey. She only asked that she be
treated like any other Wyoming lady! Before her departure, she was
presented with a beautifully hand-tooled waste basket by Don
King.
"King's" as it is known by the locals, in addition to
catering to Royalty, local ranchers and professional rodeo cowboys,
has become a great place where celebrities can enjoy a little anonymity,
try out a new rope or saddle and not be bothered by autograph seekers.
You never know when you might pass Sam Shepard while he's trying
out a new rope, William Devane who's ordering a new pair of chaps,
or maybe even a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court ordering a belt
from Jim Jackson. The atmosphere at King's is as unassuming as the
King bunch themselves. If you are looking for help in the retail
store look for Bruce King. He's the man with the answers! If you
are looking for just the right rope, find Bob because he's an expert
and has the missing thumb to prove it! If you are looking for a
great place to wander around, stop by King's Saddlery!
